Jackson reportedly wants Kerr to coach Knicks

Newly announced team president Phil Jackson is said to be pursuing Steve Kerr for the New York Knicks head coaching position.

This is according to a story by Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski:

"They're going to implement a system here -- the triangle offense -- and Jackson plans to pursue Steve Kerr to come coach the Knicks. Jackson had convinced Kerr to come to Seattle as his coach, league sources told Yahoo Sports, only to have those plans foiled when a purchase agreement with the Sacramento Kings fell apart."

Kerr, the former Chicago Bulls guard who won three championship rings with Jackson in the 90s, served as general manager of the Phoenix Suns and is now a basketball analyst at TNT, has previously deferred any talk of coaching in his future.

"It's just speculation, it's just rumors," Kerr told For the Win earlier this week. "I understand the speculation just because of my relationship with Phil Jackson. You know it's sort of uncomfortable to talk about (the Knicks job) because it's a job that's currently occupied by a guy I really like and respect in Mike Woodson."
