DHAKA, Bangladesh (AP) Opener Tamim Iqbal was 68 not out to help lift Bangladesh to a comfortable 118-1 lead over England at lunch on the opening day of the second test on Friday.
Iqbal combined for a 117-run partnership with Mominul Haque, who was also unbeaten on 44. It was the team's second-highest partnership for the second wicket against England.
England made a good start after Bangladesh opted to bat first and opener Imrul Kayes was caught at point off an ordinary delivery from fast bowler Chris Woakes, leaving the hosts at 1-1.
But Iqbal gained confidence after getting his first run on his 19th delivery, hitting eight fours to reach his eighth half century in 11 innings against England.
