Injuries piling up for Reds

Add two to the Reds' injured list. Outfielder Chris Heisey and catcher Devin Mesoraco both left Thursday's 12-5 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

Heisey had a mild left groin strain.

"I felt a little tightness when I scored in the fourth inning," he said. "They wanted me to take the rest of the day. Hopefully, I'll be OK. I've been dealing with groin thing this year. I felt it little more on that play. They can be tricky. They wanted to be safe, rather than sorry."

Mesoraco felt something in his side.

"I think it was a cramp from being sick," he said. "I pounded the fluids, but I was pretty worn out."

The Reds have played the last eight games without Drew Stubbs, who is dealing with a slightly strained oblique. He hit off a tee Thursday. It was the first time he's swung the bat since the injury happened on June 5. He also did some agility work.

Stubbs, like Mesoraco, was among the players dealing with the flu-like illness.

"What I did (Thursday), I was supposed to do Tuesday," he said. "But with being sick and feeling weak, we delayed the schedule."

The soonest he will take batting practice is Saturday.
