Injured knee sidelines Pistons' Monroe
Greg Monroe will miss Tuesday night's home game against Memphis after injuring his right knee.
According to a statement released by the team, Monroe sustained a strained knee in Monday's practice and will be re-evaluated before Wednesday's game in Philadelphia. He's the third Piston to be injured in recent days, with both Andre Drummond (concussion) and Tayshaun Prince (hip pointer) going down in Saturday's loss in Utah.
Drummond and Prince are both expected to play against the Grizzlies, but losing Monroe will make it even tougher for Detroit to end its 10-game losing streak. Monroe averages 16.0 points and 10.4 rebounds, numbers that would be needed badly against a Memphis team that currently holds the Western Conference's No. 2 seed with a 47-20 record.
Coach Stan Van Gundy will now have to play Anthony Tolliver or Joel Anthony against Zach Randolph, who averages 16.4 points and 11.3 rebounds a game.
