With Asdrubal Cabrera remaining day-to-day with a strained back, the Indians have called up Jose Ramirez.
Ramirez was originally in the lineup for Columbus' game on Tuesday at Louisville but was scratched and not available. He is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Minnesota and is batting second.
This is Ramirez's second stint with the Indians this season. He appeared in 11 games from May 2-19 and was 2 for 25 with an RBI and four runs scored. At Columbus, Ramirez is batting .302 with 22 extra-base hits, including five home runs, and 29 RBI in 60 games. He also has 19 stolen bases, which is tied for sixth in the International League.
To make room for Ramirez, the Indians have optioned T.J. House to Columbus. The left-hander is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA. In Monday's start against the Twins, he worked five innings, giving up three runs on six hits with two strikeouts and three walks. House had a no-decision in a 4-3 loss.
After Tuesday's 8-2 win, the Indians try to go for the series win Wednesday at Target Field. Here are some other things to watch in the game:
CENTRALIZING: The Tribe is 22-21 against the division, including 9-5 this month. They are 4-2 on the current 11-game road trip that features all division teams.
HEATING UP: Nick Swisher, who went 3 for 4 on Tuesday, has multi-hit games in three of his last seven. Swisher is batting .290 in July (20 for 69) with three home runs and 15 RBI.
AT HOME IN MINNESOTA: Following his four-hit performance on Tuesday night, Carlos Santana has eight home runs and 23 RBI for his career at Target Field, both are third among visiting players since the ballpark opened in 2010. Santana has a seven-game hitting streak at the park, going 11 for 31 (.355) with six doubles, three home runs and eight RBI in that span.
GOING FOR TWO STRAIGHT: Trevor Bauer (4-4, 3.89) is going for his second-straight win on the road. He has worked at least six innings in eight of his last 10 starts and allowed two or fewer earned runs in all but four of the last 10. This is Bauer's first appearance against the Twins.
TWINS STARTER: Anthony Swarzak (1-0, 4.34) makes his first start of the season after being used as a reliever. The right-hander is starting in place of Kyle Gibson, who was scratched on Tuesday night due to lower back pain. This is Swarzak's first start against the Indians since Sept. 17, 2011, when he allowed seven runs on seven hits in 1 2/3 innings. Swarzak is 0-4 as a starter against the Tribe with a 12.06 ERA.
STREAKING: Kendrys Morales, who has a 12-game hit streak, is batting .310 (45 for 145) in 37 games against the Indians and has gone 8 for 24 in his last six.
A BIT OF POWER: Brian Dozier, who hit a solo home run in the seventh, leads all second basemen with 19 homers. His 36 extra-base hits are tied for second, trailing Detroit's Ian Kinsler, who has 39.
