Indians announce opening day outfield roster decisions

Published Mar. 28, 2016 3:24 p.m. ET

Lonnie Chisenhall is the latest Indians outfielder that won't be in the lineup for opening day.

Chisenhall was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday due to a left wrist injury. Michael Brantley, who's recovering from shoulder surgery, also won't be set to take the field for the Tribe's opener with the Boston Red Sox.

With the news of Chisenhall's absence, the Tribe announced that, barring unforeseen circumstances, outfielders Colin Cowgill and Marlon Byrd would be on the opening day roster, while Robbie Grossman would not.

Cowgill and Byrd will join veteran Rajai Davis and rookie Tyler Naquin.
