* Collin Cowgill hit a three-run double, one of 11 hits the Los Angeles Angels got against reigning AL Cy Young winner David Price through his first 2 1-3 innings, and Jerome Williams ended a streak of eight straight losing decisions in a 6-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night. The Rays' ninth loss in 12 games, coupled with Boston's 9-8 win at New York, dropped Tampa Bay 6 1/2 games behind the AL East-leading Red Sox. Read More

* Shane Carden threw two touchdown passes and East Carolina beat Florida Atlantic 31-13 on Thursday night in the Owls' first Conference USA game. FAU is in its first season in C-USA after bolting from the Sun Belt. Read More

* Florida State safety Karlos Williams, a former five-star recruit, will make the transition to tailback in a move that will offer playing time on both sides of the ball. Coach Jimbo Fisher said Williams began practicing a considerable amount at tailback on Wednesday afternoon and added the junior often will play defensive back in dime situations. Read More

* Anything is possible for Tampa Bay’s offense on Sunday. Does anyone know if Josh Freeman, Doug Martin, Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams will zip around the turf at the Meadowlands and score at ease against the New York Jets?
