How the Badgers ran and passed: Game 11 vs. Northwestern
Time for this week's look at the directions and success of Wisconsin's run game, as well as the targets thrown to by Badgers quarterbacks.
We're not going to belabor the point of the controversial calls in the loss to Northwestern, but suffice to say any game doesn't come down to one play. Yes, certain plays may be deemed more important due to when they happen and what occurs, but, for example, what if Wisconsin's run game was effective? Would the Badgers have had a better chance to win and not put themselves in a position they did? Or, of course, there are the five turnovers.
Anyway, as we can see from the charts below, Wisconsin has struggled when it runs inside (basically from the right of the center to the left of the right tackle or right of the left tackle) all season, and the game vs. the Wildcats was no exception.
In the pass game, yes, Alex Erickson was again the most targeted receiver, but Tanner McEvoy and Jazz Peavy were targeted like never before.
