Hawks radio announcer refers to Dellavedova as Tonya Harding
Longtime Atlanta Hawks radio play-by-play accouncer Steve Holman told everyone how he really felt about Cleveland Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova on Tuesday night, introducing the "scrappy" player in this way:
That's scrappy in quotes because clearly fans and reporters have diverging views on Dellavedova's controversial play. In these playoffs, Dellavedova has gotten into multiple tangles that have resulted in the ejections of Taj Gibson and Al Horford, and a season-ending injury to Kyle Korver.
On the aggressive/malicious spectrum, he's probably closer to reckless, but clearly Holman, perhaps in a joking manner (I didn't hear the call myself), finds that Dellavedova is more on the Tonya Harding side, which is to say metal baton-wielding crazy. Although former figure skater Harding had Jeff Gillooly do her dirty work so it's not a perfect insult.
