Retirement is on hold for James Harrison, who has returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Harrison posted a picture to Instagram on Tuesday morning of him signing with the message "Done deal!" The Steelers cut him three times before he became a Super Bowl hero and the 2008 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Harrison, 36, had announced his retirement earlier this month. He played last season with the Cincinnati Bengals.

A native of Akron, Harrison played at Kent State before embarking upon his NFL journey as an undrafted free agent. He also spent time on the Steelers practice squad and in NFL Europe and was also cut by the Baltimore Ravens in 2004 before finally sticking with the Steelers.

The Steelers will place outside linebacker Jarvis Jones on injured-reserve/designated to return, and Harrison will likely take at least some of the snaps Jones was getting. The team also lost rookie linebacker Ryan Shazier and cornerback Ike Taylor to injuries in last weekend's win at Carolina.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin tweeted about Harrison's return Tuesday.
