Harrell, Auburn come back to beat Xavier 89-88 in double OT
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- KT Harrell scored 24 points as Auburn overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to knock off Xavier 89-88 in double overtime Saturday night.
Harrell hit 7 of 12 shots after halftime, including a 3-pointer with 2:24 left in regulation to complete the comeback. The senior guard scored eight points in the overtime periods.
Malcolm Canada hit two free throws with 14 seconds left in the second overtime to give Auburn (5-5) the lead. Remy Abell led the Musketeers (8-3) with 18 points, but missed a potential game-winning shot at the buzzer.
Cinmeon Bowers added 17 points for the Tigers and Canada scored 15.
The game was tied at 17 with 7:30 left in the first half, but the Musketeers jumped out to a double-digit lead by hitting 8 of 10 shots before the break.
