NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Connor Frizzelle knocked down a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Rice to a 50-49 win over Tulane on Saturday night.

The Owls (11-7, 2-1 Conference USA), playing their first game of the season outside the state of Texas, led for all but 25 seconds of the second half until Jordan Callahan's 3-pointer gave the Green Wave a 45-44 lead with 1:03 to go.

Ricky Tarrant added two free throws for Tulane, then Arsalan Kazemi's layup got Rice within a point with 20 seconds left.

After Callahan missed two foul shots, Tarrant went 2 for 2 to make it 49-46

Frizzelle made a free throw, missed the second and Rice rebounded to set up his game-winner.

Kazemi scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for his 14th double-double of the season, although Rice shot only 28.6 percent from the field (16 of 56).

Tarrant's 14 points led Tulane (12-5, 0-3).
