VIKERSUND, Norway (AP) Severin Freund of Germany won a ski flying event on the ski jump World Cup on Sunday while Anders Fannemel of Norway set a world record by soaring 251.5 meters in the first round.
Freund had jumps of 237.5 and 245 meters and earned a total of 436.7 points for the win. Fannemel only managed 202 meters in the second round and finished second on 394 points. Another Norwegian, Johann Andre Forfang, was third.
It was the second day in a row that a world record was set on the Vikersund hill, after Peter Prevc soared 250 meters on Saturday. Fannemel said ''I thought it would not be possible to jump longer than 250 meters (but) the conditions were perfect for long flights and I made the best jump of my life.''
