Frenzel wins Nordic combined World Cup to widen overall lead

Eric Frenzel of Germany won a Nordic combined World Cup and widened his lead in the overall standings on Friday.
Frenzel finished five seconds ahead of Norway's Jan Schmid. Haavard Klemetsen, also of Norway, was third.

Frenzel was sixth after the jump but erased the deficit in the 10-kilometer cross-country race to claim his sixth title of the season.
Frenzel improved to 721 points in the World Cup standings, 245 ahead of compatriot Fabian Riessle. Japan's Akito Watabe, who was seventh on Friday, was third with 461.
