FOX Sports Wisconsin Midweek Stock Report for March 23

Every Wednesday, FOX Sports Wisconsin takes a look at which athletes' stock is trending up and whose is trending down.
In other words, who is making a meteoric rise, and who is quickly plummeting.
With that in mind, let's "take stock" of the current sports scene in Wisconsin, shall we?

Bronson Koenig, Wisconsin guard
The Badgers' junior point guard hit not one but two money 3-pointers in the win over Xavier. Of course, there was the shot which will live in Wisconsin lore, the fall-away 3 as the buzzer sounded to send the Badgers into the Sweet 16. But don't forget Koenig also drained a long 3 with 14 seconds left to tie the game. Koenig made six 3-pointers in the game all told, but it was those two which elevated his status as a go-to player in the clutch.
Wily Peralta, Brewers pitcher
One thing about spring training stats: No matter how good or bad, they don't really count. No one refers to those statistics during or after a player's career. So ignore Peralta's pitching line this March. The Brewers and manager Craig Counsell see potential in Peralta, who was given his first Opening Day start. Quite an honor for the 26-year-old, who was chosen over up-and-coming Jimmy Nelson and veteran Matt Garza.
Damien Inglis, Bucks forward
On face value, Damien Inglis' 14.3 minutes and 4.7 points per game might not seem like much. But keep in mind Inglis played nearly as much in three games last week (roughly 42 minutes) than he had combined in every other game this season (50 minutes). Inglis had 10 points in the win over Memphis -- which matched his season total to that point.
Scooter Gennett, Brewers second baseman
After missing the start of spring training due to a shoulder injury, Gennett finally saw his first game action last Thursday and went 3 for 3 with a double and home run. Entering Wednesday, Gennett was 6 for 10 in his first three spring games.

Nigel Hayes, Wisconsin forward
If the NCAA tournament was a way for Hayes to up his stock for the NBA, well, it isn't working. Hayes has struggled with his shot all season and it has been no different in the first two round. Against Pittsburgh he made just 3 of 17 shots and vs. Xavier only 2 of 10. He also missed 11 of his three 3-point attempts in the two games. The good news: Wisconsin is still playing so Hayes has a chance to turn things around.
Rashad Vaughn, Bucks guard
Speaking of struggling with his shot, it has been a rough rookie season for the 19-year-old Milwaukee rookie. Vaughn did play nearly 21 minutes against Memphis, but made just 2 of 6 shots (1 of 4 from 3), leaving him at a 29.6 percent field-goal rate this season. The 2015 first-round pick was then sent to Canton of the NBDL, where in his first two games he proceeded to make only 5 of 21 shots, missing all five of his 3-point attempts.
Jonathan Villar, Brewers shortstop
Villar has been the expected starter at shortstop -- at least until Orlando Arcia arrives -- but he's batting just 200/216/286 this spring with just one walk and 11 strikeouts in 37 plate appearances. This past week he was 3 for 15 with five strikeouts.
