FOX Sports Florida, Prep Zone Game of the Week featuring Tampa Bay cross-town rivals
(ST. PETERSBURG, FL) ― FOX Sports Florida announced today that they will be featuring the St. Petersburg Catholic-Tampa Catholic game on FOXSportsFlorida.com via Prep Zone, presented by Checkers. Prep Zone is a revolutionary way of displaying high school football merging television, web and social media all in one place. Dave Reynolds will call the game, alongside color commentator John Kaleo and Roxanne Wilder reporting from the sidelines.
On Friday, September 14th at 7 pm ET, Prep Zone makes a stop in Pinellas County for a Class 3A backyard brawl between visiting Tampa Catholic and St. Petersburg Catholic. The Crusaders have a high-powered offense, starting with bruising senior running back Jordan Rich-Rogers, and promising sophomore lineman Corey Martinez. Tampa Catholic lost most of its defensive starters to graduation and will need its offense to carry the load in the absence of last year’s quarterback Chivarsky Corbett, who is focusing entirely on basketball this season after receiving an offer from the University of South Florida.
The host Barons’ senior Ryan Green, who is ranked as one of the nation’s best running backs and a Florida State commit, is out for the season after being diagnosed with a torn labrum. St. Pete Catholic will look to rebound from a 2-8 record in 2011 while their star running back watches from the sidelines.
