TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State received a boost to its otherwise young receiving corps with the addition of UCLA graduate transfer Devin Lucien.
Lucien signed with ASU on Tuesday and has one year of eligibility remaining to bolster a receiving group that lost Jaelen Strong as an early entrant to the NFL and Cam Smith to a knee injury.
Lucien played in all but one game for the Bruins last season and totaled 29 catches for 225 yards and two touchdowns. He was third in receptions for the Bruins.
By ASU announcing the signing, it's expected that UCLA will clear Lucien to transfer to a rival Pac-12 South school, which matches a March report from Bruins Report Online.

Lucien is reportedly still working toward his undergraduate degree at UCLA and must complete it before becoming eligible to play immediately for ASU. He released a letter of thanks following the news of his transfer.
Should he complete his degree and join the Sun Devils, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound receiver should find opportunity. D.J. Foster's move from running back to wideout is a given, but Lucien could fit in with veterans Gary Chambers and Fred Gammage. Less experienced receivers such as Ellis Jefferson, Jalen Harvey, Tyler Whiley and Eric Lauderdale could also vie for snaps, as could incoming freshman Terrell Chatman.
It's also possible that Todd Graham opts for a nontraditional grouping of receivers that includes running backs such as Kalen Ballage or De'Chavon Hayes.
In any case, Lucien is another experienced option who is already proven in Pac-12 competition.
