Former Nevada assistant Boone joins Arizona staff as linebackers coach

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Former Nevada defensive coordinator Scott Boone has been hired as linebackers coach at Arizona.

Boone fills the vacancy created when cornerbacks coach Donte Williams left Rich Rodriguez's staff for Nebraska. Defensive coordinator Marcel Yates will shift from coaching linebackers to working with cornerbacks and Spur safeties.

"Scott has tremendous experience coaching linebackers as well as coordinating a defense," Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez said. "Along with his coaching track record, he has experience recruiting the areas we recruit."

In each of his three seasons as defensive coordinator at Nevada, the Wolf Pack held opponents to fewer than 30 points per game.

Prior to joining the Nevada staff, Boone spent 10 seasons at William and Mary -- three of those as defensive coordinator.

He also was a head coach at Randolph-Macon for seven seasons and an assistant coach at his alma mater, Wabash College, for 14 seasons.
