Former Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware became a member of the Denver Broncos on Wednesday.
The seven-time Pro Bowler met with the club in the morning and signed a three-year, $30 million deal in the afternoon.
Ware then met with Denver media members to announce the signing. In his opening statement, the 31-year-old thanked former Cowboys coach Bill Parcells and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for drafting him with the 11th overall pick in 2005.
"(To) Mr. Jones for gracefully letting me go out into the market and really choose where I can finish my career at, I really want to thank him for that," Ware said. "And I really want to wish my former teammates, coaches and just the Cowboys good luck on their season."
Ware, who was scheduled to make $12.25 million in base salary in 2014, met with Jones on Tuesday. Coming off his most disappointing season, the Cowboys were looking for their career leader in sacks to take a pay cut. But the two sides failed to reach common ground and Ware was released.
Ware missed three games while battling multiple injuries, finishing the 2013 season with a career-low six sacks.
