CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason is headed to the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement for Chicago's Lance Briggs.
The Bears linebacker pulled out of the game on Monday, a day after Chicago lost to Green Bay in the NFC championship game.
The move gives Beason his third consecutive Pro Bowl selection. Beason has led the Panthers in tackles four straight years, including 162 this season, despite playing both middle and outside linebacker due to injuries.
The 2007 first-round pick joins starting left tackle Jordan Gross and center Ryan Kalil in giving Carolina three Pro Bowl selections.
