* Dallas opened its 2013 season as it did in 2012 -- with a win over the Giants (36-31 this year, 24-17 last). The Cowboys forced six turnovers in the game, their most in nearly 10 years (six vs. Redskins, Week 15 of 2003); Dallas had just 16 takeaways all of last season, and no more than two in any game.

* The Chiefs won 28-2 at Jacksonville in Week 1, allowing only a first-quarter safety after a blocked punt. It was the first time a team allowed exactly two points in a game since New England beat Cincinnati 7-2 in December 1993. Kansas City went 2-14 in 2012, not scoring more than 27 points or allowing fewer than nine in any game.

* Dallas is 6-3 all-time against the Chiefs and has won four of the last five between the teams, most recently a 26-20 win in Kansas City in Week 5 of 2009. That game was notable for Miles Austin catching 10 passes for a franchise-record 250 yards and two touchdowns, in what was his first career start.

* Tony Romo threw 49 passes on Sunday versus New York, his seventh most in any career game and most in a season opener (completed 36). The Cowboys are now 3-9 in Romo's career when he attempts 45 or more passes.

* In his last five starts against NFC opponents (dating to 2010), Jamaal Charles has carried 95 times for 623 yards, averaging 6.6 yards per carry and 124.6 per game. The Chiefs are 4-1 in those contests.

* Kansas City's 178 net yards allowed versus the Jaguars in Week 1 was its fewest in any game since Week 2 of 2009 versus Oakland (166), and its fewest allowed in a road game since Week 4 of 1999 at San Diego (132).
