GREENVILLE, N.C. – Junior Henry Johnson was named to the 2013 Conference USA Track and Field All-Academic Team, according to an announcement Wednesday by the league office. It is Johnson's first selection to the conference's 11-member team which is voted on by the league's track and field sports information directors.

"We are extremely proud of Henry Johnson," Head Coach Curt Kraft said. "This is what being a student-athlete is all about: excelling at a high level both on the field and in the classroom. Henry has done an excellent job in both. What he has accomplished is what we expect of all of our student-athletes."

Johnson owns a cumulative grade point average of 3.82 as a management major. This year, his efforts in the classroom earned him a spot on the East Carolina Dean's List and the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. Additionally, Johnson received the C-USA Academic Medal after maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.

On the field, the Smithfield, N.C., native turned in a pair of first-place performances in the indoor pole vault as he won the Kent Taylor Invitational with a career-best mark of 4.90m (16-00.75) and took first at the Virginia Tech Final Qualifier with a mark of 4.89m (16-00.50). Johnson notched his lifetime best mark of 4.90m on two separate occasions, first at the SPIRE Invitational for a top 10 finish, then again at the Kent Taylor Invitational. He finished the indoor season with a top five finish in the pole vault at the Conference USA Indoor Championships after tallying a mark of 4.82m (15-09.75).
