Crystal Mangum, the exotic dancer who falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of rape in 2006, has been indicted on a murder charge in the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, WRAL-TV reported Monday.
A Durham Country grand jury indicted Mangum, 32, in connection with the stabbing of 46-year-old Reginald Daye.
Daye, who died April 14, was stabbed in the torso with a kitchen knife in the early hours of April 3, according to police.
Magnum was initially charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, but Daye's death has now brought on the murder charge.
The incident allegedly took place while the couple was having an argument at Daye's apartment in Durham, N.C.
According to WRAL-TV, a man who claimed to be Daye's nephew called 911 to report the stabbing and told police the two were fighting over rent money.
The caller said the girlfriend in question was, "Crystal Mangum. THE Crystal Mangum," according to the report.
In March 2006, Mangum, who worked as a stripper while a student at North Carolina Central University, claimed she was raped and sexually assaulted by three Duke lacrosse players while performing at a party.
The Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong eventually dismissed the rape charges and several months later the North Carolina attorney general dismissed the remaining charges, saying there was no evidence to support them.
Nifong was later disbarred for withholding DNA evidence from defense attorneys.
Last December Mangum, a mother of three, was found guilty on three counts of child abuse and two other charges stemming from an incident in which she smashed a different boyfriend's windshield, slashed his tires and set his clothes on fire.
