Drive an electric car? Charge it up while watching the Royals

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 8:25 p.m. ET

On Monday, he Kansas City Royals, along with the KCP&L Clean Charge Network, announced the addition of five electric car charging stations in the parking lot of the Truman Sports Complex.

Located in Lot M between Kauffman Stadium and Arrowhead Stadium, each station offers two slots allowing up to 10 vehicles to "park and plug." Fans will be directed by a parking attendant to the area upon request until the stations are occupied. A Lot M parking pass is not required, and the area will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Jackson County Sports Complex Authority will pay the electrical costs for the first two years.  After that, the stations will have a pay-to-plug system.
