LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers have recalled outfielder-first baseman Scott Van Slyke from Triple-A Albuquerque and optioned infielder-outfielder Elian Herrera to Triple-A.

Earlier Wednesday, the Dodgers acquired catcher Drew Butera from Minnesota before the non-waiver trade deadline and optioned him to Triple-A. Los Angeles will give Minnesota either a player to be named or cash considerations.

This is Van Slyke's third stint with the Dodgers this season. He was batting .241 with 14 RBIs and six home runs in 33 games. He was optioned to the Isotopes on July 21.

Herrera appeared in just one game during his recall, striking out as a pinch-hitter on Sunday. He is 2-for-8 in four games with the Dodgers.

Butera has a .182 career batting average with 41 RBIs and five homers in 186 career games with the Twins from 2010-13. He has hit .217 with 169 RBIs and 24 home runs during seven minor league seasons.

He appeared in two games with the Twins during a brief call-up from July 24-28, but has spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Rochester, batting .229 with 10 RBIs and two homers.
