Dinsmore and Cook win titles at USA Diving nationals
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) David Dinsmore won the men's 10-meter title and Kassidy Cook topped the women's 3-meter competition on the final day of the USA Diving national championships Thursday.
Dinsmore totaled 422.15 points in a contest that came down to the last dive. Zach Cooper finished second with 406.30. Dominic Giordano was third at 360.35.
Dinsmore had a 25-point lead with two dives remaining but earned just 37.40 points for a reverse 3 1/2 tuck. That Cooper ahead by 0.55 points heading into the final round. Cooper scored 73.60 points on a back 2 1/2 with 1 1/2 twists, while Dinsmore countered with 90 points on a back 2 1/2 with 2 1/2 twists to secure his first 10-meter title.
On women's 3-meter, Cook won her first national title in the event with 294.70 points. Maria Coburn was second at 290.10. Emma Ivory-Ganja was third at 286.90.
Cook scored more than 60 points on three of her five dives, including 67.50 points on her front 2 1/2 with one twist, that clinched her victory in the final round.
