Dez Bryant: Tony Romo's a fighter; 'He doesn't care what nobody else says'

IRVING — Dez Bryant wasn't crying like Terrell Owens on Monday, but he was sticking up for his quarterback.

Asked for his take on the criticism Tony Romo has received for his costly interception against the Denver Broncos, Bryant took a page out of Romo's book and said the critics don't matter.

"Radio, whoever, they're going to do what they're going to do," Bryant said. "As long as we know who Romo is in this locker room, he don't care, and that's the only thing that matters. He doesn't care what nobody else says.

"As long as he knows that we got his back, that's the only thing that matters. The performance that he had yesterday, it was outstanding. I think that's probably one of the best games that he's ever played. All he can do and all we can do is get better, from that performance."

Romo threw for a franchise-record 506 yards and five touchdowns in Sunday's 51-48 loss, but he also added to his lengthy career list of late-game blunders, tossing an interception with two minutes to play and the score tied, 48-48.

Since Bryant said the team knows who Romo is, a reporter asked the 24-year-old receiver for a description of the franchise quarterback.

"In my eyes, Romo's a fighter," Bryant said. "I don't think no quarterback in the NFL takes as much criticism as he takes. And he still goes out there and acts like he hasn't heard anything. I know he hear it but he doesn't let it get to him. He goes out there and performs the best way he possibly can. And we're going to forever back him for it."
