Dayton holds off George Mason

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- Chris Johnson, playing with a groin injury, scored 18 points to lead Dayton to a 73-67 victory over George Mason on Wednesday night.

Johnson, who missed Monday's practice and was a game-time decision, scored 14 points in the first half and was 6 for 6 from the foul line as the Flyers (11-3) won their fourth consecutive game.

Cam Long led George Mason (9-3) with 20 points, but the Patriots never led in the second half and had their seven-game winning streak snapped.

Dayton trailed 27-22, but went on a 15-0 run for a 37-27 lead with 1:47 to play in the first half.

George Mason cut the lead to four points twice in the final 1:26, but Dayton was 6 of 8 from the foul line to end the game.

Juwan Staten scored a career-high 16 points and Chris Wright added 13 and nine rebounds for Dayton.

Andre Cornelius scored 18 points and Ryan Pearson added 13 for the Patriots.
