Let's get to today's interesting facts, using DraftKings prices.
Five Things to Watch:
1. Here are the three highest projected over/unders, provided by OddsShark...
2. Weather: Keep an eye on rain in St. Louis, but we should be all good for Saturday.
3. You down with BvP? Melky Cabrera is 7-for-17 lifetime against Doug Fister. Jason Heyward is 7-for-17 against Bartolo Colon. Mike Trout is 6-for-16 with 2 HR against Clay Buchholz. Ben Zobrist is 8-for-14 with 4 HR against Bartolo Colon. Matt Carpenter is 6-for-13 against Jimmy Nelson.
4. Your three biggest pitching favorites for the night: Joe Ross (-212) against the Reds, Jake Arrieta (-180) against the Mets and Scott Kazmir (-170) against the Rockies. *Ed note: Jose Fernandez against Atlanta hasn't been released yet.
5. Sneaky stack options: We can pick on Ivan Nova (5.32 ERA) with the Padres and save some money. The Angels against Clay Buchholz ( 5.90 ERA) makes sense as well. The Rangers aren't too expensive against Tyler Duffey, either.
Must-Start of the day: Ben Zobrist, CHC You may not be a big BvP believer, but it's hard not to trust these stats. Zobrist has absolutely owned Bartolo Colon, going 8-for-14 with 4 HR against him lifetime. At just $3900, he's a great value.
Deal of the day: Scott Kazmir, LAD
Kazmir is a big favorite at home against the Rockies, who tend to struggle to put up big runs away from Coors Field (19th in road OPS). Kaz has been solid this season, and with 91 K in 88 IP, he offers much more upside than you typically get from a pitcher who costs $6,400. He's a steal.
Stack of the day: Miami Marlins
The Marlins aren't typically a team we stack, but Casey Kelly has been brutal so far this year (5.49 ERA, 1.68 WHIP) and Miami's bats have been hot as of late. Ozuna, Stanton and Bour should be able to grab you at least one homer, right?
Starting pitchers:
Scott Kazmir, LAD: "Deal of the day"
Jose Fernandez, MIA: Jake Arrieta has struggled with the Mets in the past, and Chris Sale gets a potentially dangerous Astros lineup. That leaves Fernandez as the top option against the league's worst offense in OPS in Atlanta. Fernandez has recorded over 30 points on DK in seven of his last ten starts.
Drew Pomeranz, SD: The Yankees are just 27th in OPS against LHP, and run support for Pomeranz shouldn't be an issue with Ivan Nova on the hill. It's a little surprising that Pomeranz (102 K in 88 IP) isn't priced higher than he is at $10,600.
Catchers:
Buster Posey, SF: Always better against lefties than righties and is hitting .378 over his last ten games.
Willson Contreras, CHC: .972 OPS over his last 35 at-bats and is cheap at just $3600.
First basemen:
Justin Bour, MIA: Red-hot with a 1.405 OPS over his last ten games and is part of our Marlins stack.
Chris Davis, BAL: James Paxton gets rocked by lefties, and Crush is warming up with a 1.003 OPS over his last ten games. He's a killer value at just $3700.
Second basemen:
Ben Zobrist, CHC: "Must-start of the day"
Robinson Cano, SEA: Hitting .342 over his last ten and has a good matchup on Saturday.
Third basemen:
Matt Carpenter, STL: Carpenter is 6-for-13 against Jimmy Nelson.
Josh Donaldson, TOR: Not scared of Bauer, and we'll take the discount at $3900. Hitting .385 over his last ten.
Shortstops:
Aledmys Diaz, STL: 1.076 OPS over his last ten games.
Francisco Lindor, CLE: Good power/speed/average combo at just $3700.
Outfielders:
Mike Trout, LAA: Trout is 6-for-16 with 2 HR against Clay Buchholz.
Melky Cabrera, CWS: Cabrera is 7-for-17 lifetime against Doug Fister.
Stanton and Ozuna, MIA: A key part of our Marlins stack.
