The Diamondbacks reinstated first baseman Lyle Overbay from the paternity list on Friday after optioning outfielder A.J. Pollock to Triple-A Reno on Thursday to clear a roster spot.
The 35-year-old Overbay left the team to be with his wife, Sarah, for the birth of their fourth child, daughter Audrey Lynn, on June 5. The couple also has three sons, Adam, Alex and Luke.
Overbay is hitting .339 with two homers and six RBIs in 62 at-bats this season while backing up Paul Goldschmidt. Pollock, who was called up for the second time this year on June 6, was hitting .245 with one home run and five RBIs in 53 at-bats.
