D-backs announce 2014 spring training schedule

The Diamondbacks on Monday announced their 28-game spring training schedule, which features 15 home games and one road game at Salt River Fields as well as two exhibition games at Chase Field. This season will be the the fourth at the team's shared spring training facility with the Rockies on Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community land near Scottsdale.

The D-backs open their 17th spring training Feb. 26 at Salt River Fields against the Dodgers and will travel to Sydney, Australia, during spring training, from March 17-25, to officially open the 2014 season against the Dodgers on March 22 and 23 before returning to Phoenix to complete the spring schedule.

The D-backs have nine spring games against their National League West rivals, with three games against the Dodgers and Rockies, a pair against the Padres and one against Giants. The D-backs will play four evening games at Salt River Fields, including matchups on March 1 against the Cubs, March 3 against the Rockies, March 10 against the Mariners and an away game against the Rockies on March 12. The last night game will mark the first of a two-game set against the Cubs on March 28-29 at Chase Field to wrap up spring training.

Tickets for all games at Salt River Fields are priced from $9-$28. The two exhibition games held at Chase Field are not included in the spring training season-ticket package but are available in the D-backs’ regular-season ticket packages.

Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community members and D-backs and Rockies season-ticket holders can purchase season-ticket plans for spring training games at Salt River Fields exclusively between Dec. 16-18. Season-ticket plans for the D-backs’ 15 home games and all 31 spring training games at Salt River Fields featuring the D-backs and Rockies will go on sale to the public beginning Dec. 19.

Individual game tickets for all 31 games at Salt River Fields will go on sale beginning at 10 a.m. on Jan. 11. Individual tickets for the two exhibition games at Chase Field will go on sale at a later date.

Last season the D-backs sold out 12 spring training games at Salt River Fields and set a single-game attendance record with 12,864 fans on March 24 against the Mariners. The D-backs’ average spring training attendance of 11,021 was the highest in the major leagues.

Additionally, with the help of the sellout crowd of 11,576 fans on the opening day of spring training last season, Salt River Fields surpassed the 1 million mark for total attendance in just two years of operation.
