Coyotes send qualifying offers to 7 restricted free agents

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Coyotes extended qualifying offers to seven restricted free agents at Monday's deadline.

From the NHL roster they were: forward Mikkel Boedker, defensemen Klas Dahlbeck and Brandon Gormley and goalie Louis Domingue. From the minor leagues they were forwards Brendan Shinnimin and Jordan Martinook and defenseman Philip Samuelsson.

Among the players the Coyotes did not qualify were forwards Mark Arcobello, Craig Cunningham and McGinn and defenseman John Moore, along with minor league forwards Greg Carey, Darian Dziurzynski and Philip Lane and goalies Mike Lee and Mark Visentin.

Moore and Visentin were the biggest surprises. Moore was part of the trade that sent defenseman Keith Yandle to the New York Rangers at the deadline. Prospect Anthony Duclair and two picks also came to the Coyotes in that deal.

Visentin was the team's first-round pick (27th overall) in 2010. He missed the entire 2014-15 season due to an ankle injury. He also struggled with inconsistent play. The Coyotes drafted a pair of goalies this year and still have Domingue as a top prospect.

With Moore gone, the Coyotes clearly need to add more depth to their blue line. As it stands, they have Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Nicklas Grossmann, Michael Stone, Connor Murphy, Klas Dahlbeck, Gormley and Samuelsson. The team might re-sign unrestricted free agent Andrew Campbell.
