DALLAS — Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Josh Brent was booked into the Dallas County Jail on Thursday afternoon after allegedly failing a second drug test while awaiting trial on intoxication manslaughter charges in the death of his former teammate and friend Jerry Brown Jr.

FoxSportsSouthwest.com has learned that Brent failed the second test on June 19 – just two days before he was scheduled for a bond hearing before a judge due to allegations he’d failed a first test.

That hearing was rescheduled for July 19. Now, Brent will be held in jail without bond until that time, and may be back in jail while he awaits a September trial.

The Dallas County DA’s office alleges Brent’s “continued use of marijuana demonstrates a pattern of conduct in disregard of this court's authority to properly supervise his pre-trial release."

Following the car accident on Dec. 12, in which Brent was driving and Brown was a passenger, the court released Brent on a $100,000 bond with orders to refrain from alcohol or drug use.

The Cowboys, who have yet to release Brent, declined comment on the arrest.
