Construction company reaches deal with unions for Bucks arena
The Milwaukee Bucks' plans for a new arena took another step forward on Friday.
The team announced that contractor Mortenson Construction has reached an agreement with local unions outlining the "rules of engagement" for work on the $500 million arena, an agreement that includes provisions aimed at "dispute resolution," and preventing strikes or lockouts.
"The Bucks are proud to enlist local labor organizations to ensure that this historic project is built safely and efficiently by an incredibly skilled local workforce," Bucks president Peter Feigin said in a statement.
The deal -- known as a project labor agreement -- also promotes Helmets to Hardhats, a nonprofit that connects military veterans with jobs in the construction industry.
Construction on the arena is expected to be completed in September, 2018.
