Colts acquire running back Trent Richardson in blockbuster trade
By Ross Jones, FOXSports.com Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay said last week that his team was in the running back market. Well, he wasn’t playing around. The Colts acquired running back Trent Richardson in a trade with the Cleveland Browns for a 2014 first-round pick, the team announced. Richardson, who was selected with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2012 Draft, ran for 1,055 yards and 11 touchdowns in his rookie season. “Trent’s a great player and we expect him to have success in this league,” said Browns CEO Joe Banner. “Right now, based on how we’re building this team for sustainable success, we’re going to be aggressive and do what it takes to assemble a team that consistently wins.” The Browns are bringing in veteran running back Willis McGahee for a physical and if he passes they are planning on signing him, according to FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer. The Colts were looking for backfield help after starter Vick Ballard went down with a torn ACL in his right knee last week. Richardson will join a stable that includes veterans Ahmad Bradshaw and Donald Brown. The Colts play the 49ers on Sunday. Questions? Comments?
