ALLEN PARK, Mich. — If another off-the-field incident is affecting Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, his coach hasn't noticed it.
Defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham said Suh has never looked better entering Sunday's game at Philadelphia.
"He's probably had two of the best practices I've ever seen in my life," Cunningham said Friday. "If he plays like he practiced this week, my God, he'll have a heck of a game."
Suh was accused of sideswiping another vehicle, leaving the scene of the accident and then berating the driver of the other vehicle on Thursday morning. The incident took place near the Lions' practice facility.
Dearborn police, however, announced Friday that the investigation into the incident is closed and no tickets will be issued. It was described by police as a minor accident in which fault couldn't be determined.
Suh wouldn't comment to reporters following practice, but he did post a message on Twitter earlier in the morning:
"Blessed to be at work today and ready to finish phase 1 of physical part of week! #GLADTOHAVENONOFMYTAILLIGHTSBROKENTHISMORNING."
According to WJBK-TV, the local FOX television affiliate, Steve Vines, 43, was the driver of the other vehicle.
"As we're going up the ramp, he just punched it, went right around me. ... He just sideswiped me," said in an interview with the TV station.
NO WORD ON BEST
Lions running back Jahvid Best expected find out Friday whether he will be cleared for contact, but coach Jim Schwartz said he had no update.
Best, who hasn't played in nearly a year because of a head injury, wasn't available for comment.
"He's been through a lot of testing this week," Schwartz said. "As far as I know, they're still going over the results. I don't know if you're going to hear anything today. It's still an ongoing process."
DELMAS UPDATE
The status of safety Louis Delmas, who underwent surgery on his left knee in early August, remains unclear for Sunday's game.
"I don't know if I'm playing Sunday," said Delmas, who returned to practice on a limited basis last week.
Asked if he thinks he's ready to play, Delmas said, "I can't answer that right now. Mentally, yeah, but physically, I don't know.
"We'll see. If my coaches and my trainers think I'll be able to go then I'll go."
Delmas didn't practice Friday, but that was apparently more of a precautionary measure.
"We had planned to ease him back at the end of the week," Schwartz said. "He's doing well. He hasn't had any setbacks. We'd like to keep it that way."
