Pop singer Kelly Clarkson is a native of Fort Worth, Texas who claims she's been a Dallas Cowboys fan since the day she was born.
So you can imagine her level of excitement when she was given the opportunity to write a song about her favorite team.
Pepsi recently teamed with the NFL and four artists to write and perform songs focused on their hometown teams. The other singer/songwriters involved in the project include Ice Cube, Kid Rock and Travie McCoy.
"When you're born in Fort Worth, you come out of the womb loving the Cowboys," Clarkson told USAToday.com. "In Texas, people love football more than anything. Once they find out about this, I'll be golden."
The 2002 American Idol winner and multi-platinum selling singer told the website that she wrote the Cowboys anthem titled "Get Up" only hours after the proposal.
"People overseas know the Dallas Cowboys," she said. "They don't know the Denver Broncos or the Philadelphia Eagles. The Dallas cheerleaders are more famous than some of the NFL teams. I know I sound biased."
The song includes lyrics like, "It doesn't matter who you are, you know we're coming when you see the star" and "Everybody wants to be a Lone Star hero, but only Texas has it all."
Surely no one should be surprised when the song is performed live this season at Cowboys Stadium.
