Church could have possibly prevented injury
IRVING – Had Barry Church been wearing all of his pads, he might not have suffered a bruised quad in Seattle.
The Cowboys' starting safety was not wearing his thigh pads when he was injured in the first half.
"It was a knee," Church explained Wednesday. "A guy was trying to blow me up and his knee ran into my quad."
Church, who admitted that the injury would not have occurred had he been wearing the proper protection, said he will have to wear thigh pads Sunday against the Buccaneers.
"It's restrictive when you have the pads on, but it's part of the game, so you've got to play with them," Church said. "I got a padded girdle from Nike and I'm going to have to wear all of my pads this time."
Unfortunately for Church, he'll have to get used to the thigh protection because wearing them becomes mandatory next season.
"That's going to suck," he said. "That's real restricting when you have all of those pads. But you do what you've got to."
Church said he was a full participant in practice Wednesday and should be able to play Sunday.
