Christon picked for Big East preseason all-conference first team

Xavier guard Semaj Christon was picked for the preseason All-Big East first team Tuesday, but the league's coaches have a less optimistic view of the Musketeers' chances this season in the reconfigured league.
Christon, a sophomore guard from Cincinnati, was the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year last season when he averaged a team-high 15.2 points and 4.6 assists per game. He finished the year on a 19-game double-figure scoring streak.
Big East coaches picked the Musketeers to finish seventh in the league.
Defending co-champion Marquette is the favorite to win the conference with Georgetown No. 2, Creighton third, Villanova fourth and St. John's fifth followed by Providence.
Seton Hall is eighth in the preseason poll followed by Butler and DePaul.
