Charlie Strong officially announced discipline for eight players at his news conference before preseason camp on Sunday.

Receivers Montrel Meander and Kendall Sanders were dismissed, along with DB Chevoski Collins and running backs Jalen Overstreeet and Joe Bergeron.

Strong suspended OT Desmond Harrison, S Josh Turner and WR Daje Johnson at least one game and possibly more.

Meander and Sanders were dismissed after initially being suspended last month.

"They can't work their way back," Strong said.

Both players face felony sexual assault charges in an alleged incident on June 21 and were arrested on July 24.

Collins, Overstreet and Bergeron were given full releases to transfer after their dismissals.

Strong said repeat offenses led to the decision.

"It was over and over. At some point, you have to do something," he told reporters.

Bergeron, who led Texas with 16 rushing touchdowns in 2012, had been told to focus on academics and didn't practice this spring. Strong told reporters at Big 12 Media Days last month that Bergeron had worked his way back into good standing, but days later, reports surfaced that Bergeron had been dismissed. Division III West Texas A&M told the Austin American-Statesman that they had received his paperwork for a transfer last week.

Harrison, Turner and Johnson could miss multiple games, but will practice with the team when camp opens on Monday.
