Carter providing Brewers with power, runs early
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Starling Marte may have robbed Chris Carter of a home run when he scaled the wall at PNC Park on Friday, but the veteran first baseman has provided enough power during his brief tenure with the Milwaukee Brewers to make up for the highlight-reel snag
Carter leads the Brewers in extra-base hits with seven through 11 games, a figure that ranks as one of the best starts in team history for a new player.
His seven extra-base hits are second only to Larry Hisle, who opened the 1978 season with eight such hits through his first 11 games with the Brewers.

The Brewers have been particularly patient at the plate this season, and own one of the largest year-to-year increases in walks per game.
After logging just 2.54 walks per game in 2015 the Brewers are up to 4.33 walks per game this season, the second-largest jump in the majors.
However, their new found affinity for walks will be put to the test on Monday, when the Brewers open a three-game series at Target Field with a matchup against Minnesota Twins starter Phil Hughes.
Hughes has a 4.28 ERA through 12.1 innings pitched this season, and has yet to walk a batter.
The Twins right-hander has logged a combined 32 starts without a walk since 2014, a figure that leads the majors during that span.
