ST. LOUIS -- After picking four right-handed pitchers on the first day of the MLB Draft, the Cardinals' scouting department selected two more Friday to go along with a lefty pitcher, three infielders, one outfielder and one catcher.

The Cardinals made eight picks during the second day of the draft, which covered rounds three through 10:

Trevor Megill, RHP, Loyola Marymount University

St. Louis' third-round selection, Megill stands 6 feet 8 and weighs 235 pounds and was a two-time All-West Coast Conference selection before sitting out his junior season after having Tommy John surgery. As a sophomore in 2013, the right-hander went 3-3 with a 2.72 ERA with 45 strikeouts and 11 walks in 43 innings.

Austin Gomber, LHP, Florida Atlantic University

A 6-5, 215-pounder, the Cardinals' fourth-round pick (No. 135 overall) is a junior who has been Florida Atlantic's ace for two seasons. MLB.com describes Gomber as a hurler with a good feel for his three-pitch arsenal who should eventually fit well in a major-league rotation.

Gomber has a career ERA of 3.27 at FAU with 238 strikeouts in three seasons. He won 14 games this spring and pitched 244 2/3 innings.

Darren Seferina, 2B, Miami Dade (Fla.) Community College

St. Louis' fifth-round pick is a 5-9, 175-pound left-handed hitter who is originally from Curacao and batted .405 with a .475 OPB, scored 56 runs and stole 34 bases in 54 games this season.

Andrew Sohn, SS, Western Michigan University

A 5-11, 185-pounder, the Cardinals' sixth-round selection was the Broncos' leading hitter the past two seasons, batting .337 as a sophomore and .323 as a junior this spring. He had seven doubles, six triples, 28 RBI and 17 stolen bases this season to go with a .429 OBP.

Brian O'Keefe, C, Saint Joseph's University

The Birds went with a backstop in the seventh round, picking up the 6-foot, 210-pound junior. O'Keefe hit .350 with 20 extra-base hits, 43 RBI and 58 runs scored in 50 games this season.

Nick Thompson, RF, William and Mary

Another college junior, St. Louis' eighth-rounder led the Colonial Athletic Association with a .368 average and 69 runs scored and was second with 11 home runs this season. He's a 6-1, 210-pound right-handed hitter and thrower.

Daniel Poncedeleon, RHP, Embry-Riddle University

This well-traveled righty, the Cards' ninth-round pick, has pitched at four different colleges, including the University of Arizona, and has now been drafted four times. He was a 14th-round pick of the Cubs a year ago. This spring, the 6-4, 200-pounder went 9-2 with a 1.60 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 95 innings.

Danny Diekroeger, 3B, Stanford

St. Louis finished its day by taking the left-handed-hitting senior in the 10th round (No. 315 overall). A 6-2, 205-pounder, Diekroeger is batting .311 with a .402 OBP for the Cardinal this season, which continues this weekend with Stanford playing in the Nashville Super Regional.
