Cardinals put Bridges on IR, sign McQuistan

The Cardinals placed tackle Jeremy Bridges on injured reserve Monday with torn ligaments in his thumb, another blow to the team's depth on the offensive line.

Bridges had entered camp as the starter at right tackle before getting beaten out by rookie Bobby Massie, but he had starting experience at both tackle and guard, something the Cardinals now have little of with Brown and Bridges both done for the year with injuries and Massie and D'Anthony Batiste moving into starting roles.

In Bridges' absence, the Cardinals signed tackle Pat McQuistan to a one-year contract Monday. McQuistan was released by the Cowboys as part of the final roster cuts on Friday. He is entering his seventh year in the NFL after
playing with the Saints in 2011 following time with the Dolphins (2010) and Cowboys (2006-09). He played in 10 regular-season games and both postseason contests for the Saints last year after
playing in all 16 games, including eight starts, with the Dolphins in 2010.

The Cardinals also were awarded a waiver claim Monday on linebacker Jamaal Westerman from the Dolphins. The 6-foot-3, 260-pound Westerman signed with Miami this past March as a free agent after playing his first three seasons with the New York Jets. Last season, Westerman played in a career-high 16 games and had three starts while setting career highs with 23 tackles, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

The Cardinals also re-signed to the team’s practice squad defensive tackle Ricky Lumpkin, linebacker Colin Parker, cornerback Larry Parker, tight end Steve Skelton and wide receiver Isaiah Williams. All five spent the preseason with the Cardinals and were released in the final cutdown to 53 players.

In addition, the Cardinals have signed tackle Steven Baker (released by the Colts), linebacker Ricky Elmore (released by the Chargers) and wide receiver Gerell Robinson (released by the Broncos) to the practice squad.

Parker and Robinson, both rookies, played collegiately at Arizona State, while Elmore played at Arizona and in his second year after spending the 2011 season on the 49ers' practice squad.
