Cardinals-Eagles game on Dec. 20 moved to prime time

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 9:17 p.m. ET

NEW YORK  -- The Cardinals-Eagles game in Week 15 has been shifted to prime time under the NFL's flexible scheduling policy.

A Bengals-49ers matchup was originally set to be played on NBC's "Sunday Night Football" on Dec. 20. But San Francisco is 4-8, while Philadelphia is in contention in the woeful NFC East.

The league said Monday that Bengals-49ers will now start at 4:25 p.m. EST on CBS. The NFL also announced that a 1 p.m. Bills-Redskins game that day will switch from CBS to Fox.

The NFL can move more appealing matchups to Sunday night starting with Week 11. It also now has the ability to "cross-flex" afternoon games from one network to the other.

It will be the second time this season the Cardinals have been "flexed" -- their Week 11 game vs. Cincinnati was also moved to primetime -- and this put the Cardinals in front of a national television audience for the fourth time in six weeks -- Sunday night games vs. Seattle, Cincinnati and Philadelphia and this week's Thursday night game vs. Minnesota.
