DODGERS 6, ROCKIES 1
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Matt Kemp
had his first two hits of the spring and Clayton Kershaw allowed only
two hits in five innings and added an RBI single and the Los Angeles
Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies 6-1 Sunday.
Kemp, who was 0 for
11 with five strikeouts in his first four Cactus League games, singled
in the first inning, walked in the fourth and added an RBI single to
score Dee Gordon during a six-run fifth inning.
Juan Uribe followed Kemp with a three-run homer to cap the inning.
Kershaw
(2-2), who had allowed eight earned runs in eight innings in three
starts, allowed a leadoff single to Dexter Fowler and a single to Henry
Wrigley in the second.
Fowler scored on Elian Herrera's fielding error in the first. The Rockies had just five hits, all singles.
Colorado starter Jeff Francis (1-1) blanked the Dodgers through four
to extend his spring scoreless streak to 13 innings. But he ran into
trouble in the fifth, allowing singles to Alex Castellanos and Alfredo
Amezaga before Kershaw and Skip Schumaker followed with RBI singles.
REDS 7, WHITE SOX 3
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Shin-Soo Choo got four hits and Todd Frazier homered Sunday as the Cincinnati Reds beat a Chicago White Sox split squad 7-3.
Frazier had three hits and Cesar Izturis drove in two runs.
Reds starter Johnny Cueto was erratic in his second spring start. He walked three and hit another, but completed four innings and gave up just two runs.
Chicago starter Gavin Floyd allowed four runs and struck out five in 3 1/3 innings.
Paul Konerko went 0 for 3 for the White Sox after getting hits in eight of his nine previous plate appearances.
ATHLETICS 7, DIAMONDBACKS 5
PHOENIX (AP) -- Brett Anderson, scheduled to start on opening day for the Oakland Athletics, strained a muscle in his upper right back and left Sunday's 7-5 win over Arizona after facing just two batters.
Anderson indicated that the injury was nothing serious. The lefty said he came out as a precautionary measure.
After Adam Eaton led off with a single, former Oakland infielder Cliff Pennington hit a sharp grounder that caromed off the glove of third baseman Josh Donaldson.
Nobody was covering third base and Eaton took off. Anderson ran over to the bag but was too late to get Eaton.
Anderson kept twisting and rubbing his neck following the play. After consulting with manager Bob Melvin and the team's medical staff, Anderson exited.
Jed Lowrie homered and doubled for the A's.
GIANTS 6, BREWERS 1
PHOENIX (AP) -- Matt Cain gave up one run in three innings Sunday and the San Francisco Giants beat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-1.
Cain allowed four hits, walked one and struck out four.
Cole Gillespie had two hits and drove in a run for the Giants.
Chris Narveson went three innings in his second official spring start for Milwaukee, allowing two runs and five hits.
CUBS 9, PADRES 3
MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- Alfonso Soriano hit a two-run double and Dioner Navarro followed with two-run homer Sunday, leading the Chicago Cubs past the San Diego Padres 9-3.
Christian Villanueva added a two-run homer for the Cubs. He has three hits this spring and all of them are home runs.
Padres starter Jason Marquis threw four scoreless innings and allowed two hits. Reliever Andrew Cashner made his first appearance and had a clean seventh inning after coming back from thumb surgery stemming from a hunting accident in December.
Mark Kotsay hit a two-run double off Cubs starter Scott Feldman.
Padres infielder Logan Forsythe was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and will be out three to four days.
RANGERS 7, INDIANS 6
GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) -- Craig Gentry hit a two-run homer off Brett Myers to pace the Texas Rangers to a 7-6 win over the Cleveland Indians.
Gentry added a single and scored another run. Jeff Baker, a non-roster invitee for Texas, hit an RBI double and single in his first two at-bats, making it eight straight plate appearances in which he'd reached base.
Myers, who pitched 70 times in relief last season, threw three scoreless innings before the Rangers got to him in the fourth for five runs. Myers will be the Indians' No. 3 starter this season.
Michael Brantley, who had stitches removed from his forearm on Saturday, was 0 for 2 for Cleveland. He had missed 12 games with a cut sustained in a slide against the Angels.
WHITE SOX 11, MARINERS 7
PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) -- Dayan Viciedo went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, and a Chicago White Sox split squad beat the Seattle Mariners 11-7 on Sunday.
Viciedo was in the middle of a five-run first inning that featured non-roster invitee Stefan Gartrell's grand slam off Mariners starter Andrew Carraway.
Seattle's Michael Morse hit his third home run of the spring, a solo shot off White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod. That was the only hit and run allowed by the right-hander.
Axelrod, who pitched in 14 games and started seven last season, worked three innings for the win. He has allowed one earned run and three hits in eight innings over three outings this spring. Axelrod has walked none and struck out seven.
Mariners outfielders Jason Bay and Carlos Peguero both tripled off of Scott Snodgress in the fourth.
Chicago's Brent Morel was 2-for-4 with a home run, and Gordon Beckham added a solo shot.
