Bucs re-sign CB Mike Jenkins, extend qualifying offers to 2 others
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed cornerback Mike Jenkins to a one-year deal Thursday and extended qualifying offers to a pair of exclusive rights free agents, linebacker Danny Lansanah and safety Bradley McDougald.
The Bucs also announced that McDougald has signed his offer sheet.
Jenkins, 29, appeared in just one game with the Bucs last season because a pectoral injury placed him on injured reserve. He earned one tackle in a Week 1 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
The seven-year veteran, who was the 25th overall pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2008, has 227 tackles, 49 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 10 interceptions in his career. He was named to the Pro Bowl following the 2009 season.
Lansanah, meanwhile, became a welcome surprise for the Bucs last season, starting 11 games and earning 79 tackles. The 29-year-old also had eight passes defensed, eight tackles for loss, 1 1/2 sacks, three interceptions and two touchdowns.
McDougald, 24, played in 15 games last season, and he started the final five. He earned 46 tackles, seven passes defensed and one interception.
