Bucs guard Carl Nicks out vs. Saints; Gabe Carimi to start
TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers guard Carl Nicks has been ruled out again.
The two-time Pro Bowl player had been considered a possibility to make his season debut Sunday at Raymond James Stadium against his former team, the New Orleans Saints.
But Nicks, recovering from an infected blister on his left foot, was one of seven players included on Tampa Bay's inactive list, joining reserve quarterback Dan Orlovsky, cornerback Michael Adams, running back Peyton Hillis, tight end Tom Crabtree, and defensive ends William Gholston and Steven Means.
Gabe Carimi will start at left guard in Nicks' place.
"It's going to be a little bit of a process no matter when that first time he plays (happens)," Bucs coach Greg Schiano said of Nicks on Friday. "But you know what? We'll just keep moving it forward, because Carl is a dominant player, and we need to get him back."
