Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Carter-Williams has been named as one of 34 players invivted to participate in next week's USA Basketball men's national team minicamp in Las Vegas. USA Basketball announced its list of invitees on Thursday.
The list of invitees includes 12 members of the gold-medal 2014 USA World Cup team and nine Olympic gold medalists. Additionally, the list includes eight players who are new additions to the USA Basketball roster. Added to the 2014-16 USA National Team roster, along with Milwaukee's Carter-Williams, are: Harrison Barnes (Golden State), Jimmy Butler (Chicago), Mike Conley (Memphis), Draymond Green (Golden State), Tobias Harris (Orlando), DeAndre Jordan (Los Angeles Clippers), and Victor Oladipo (Orlando).
The list of returnees includes several established NBA stars, like Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and James Harden.
"With this being a summer where we do not have an official competition that we need to prepare for, this year's minicamp is an opportunity to continue and expand the brotherhood and camaraderie that has been built," said Jerry Colangelo, who has served as managing director of the USA national team since 2005.
Milwaukee's Carter-Williams is one of seven national team attendees who ranked in the NBA's top 11 players in assists last season, as he ranked 11th in the league, dishing out 6.7 assists per contest.
The minicamp is set to be held Aug. 11-13.
Carter-Williams and company will have an eye on eventually playing in the 2016 Olympic Games, set to be held Aug. 5-21 that summer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
