Bryce Petty, Sooners 'ready' for matchup
Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty was asked six questions after the Bears' win over Kansas last Saturday.
He answered five of them the same way:
"Ready for OU," he said.
OK, that's an interesting take on having a singular focus, but maybe it was because Kansas is so bad that Petty felt like he could get a jump on looking ahead. Baylor won 60-14.
Either way, you had to figure that message was going to get back to the Sooners.
OU and Baylor play at 11 a.m. Saturday.
"Yeah, I've been hearing about that," OU linebacker Jordan Evans said. "He's ready. We're ready. We're glad to hear that he's ready because we know we're a competitive team and we want their best effort at our place."
Baylor and Petty gave OU a pretty good effort last season, winning 41-12 in Waco, Texas.
Now, Evans answered more than a few questions, so did coach Bob Stoops and other Sooner players Monday during the team's weekly meet with the media. However, their answers weren't quite as simple as Petty's.
"Sounds like coach (Bill) Belichick," Stoops said, going on to say he doesn't really care about what Petty said.. "We're getting ready for Baylor."
Said cornerback Julian Wilson: "If he's (Petty) ready to play, he's ready to play. I can't really get mad at him for saying that."
