The Milwaukee Brewers announced they traded righthanded pitcher Darren Byrd for third baseman Stephen Parker on Monday.
Parker is a career .277 hitter with 43 HR and 262 RBI, playing in the minor leagues the past four years after being selected by Oakland in the fifth round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. He was named a California League All-Star in 2010 after hitting 21 HR and 98 RBI with a .298 average in 139 games for Class-A Stockton.
Byrd had been in the Brewer’s farm system since 2010, appearing in one spring game this year before returning to minor-league camp early in March.
